JAGUAR XK150 3.4 S OTS 1958

Brand: Jaguar
Type: XK150 S Open Two Seater
Year: 1958
Colour: Windsor Blue

A pure and original Jaguar XK 150 3.4 S OTS.

Being launched in 1957, the XK150 was the ultimate Jaguar XK. Many improvements were made compared to its predecessor which included disc brakes all around, standard dual exhaust system and roll-up side windows on all models. To replace the quicker ‘C-type’ engine from the XK140, an ‘S’ version was introduced in ’58. 250 bhp output was achieved by using triple SU HD8 carburettors, a lighter flywheel and slightly sharper camshafts. Only 846 left hand drive XK 150 S open two seaters were built. With a decade of racing experience Jaguar was on point in the late fifties and that pedigree can be seen and felt anywhere in the XK150 S.

This particular car was built on the 29th of May 1958. Dispatched in June that same year, it was sold to Mr Felstraw from Utah, USA. All the numbers are correct of this XK 150 S and a Heritage Certificate is available to confirm.

Being restored in early 2000, the car is still in concours condition. Although almost 20.000 miles have been covered since resto, hardly any signs of wear can be found on the car. The car has been enjoyed and proved to be highly reliable thanks to a restoration on the highest level. No expenses were saved during this restoration and we can offer a perfect car that has aged incredibly well. All history and invoices are available just as a photobook including restoration photos.

The body of the car has been restored to original specification, all the original panels were used and no filler had to be added. This results in a very prestine body, which remains in such good condition after twenty years since restoration. XK specialists know the weak parts of the bodies such as around the headlights, around the sidelights and the rear deck of the car. This OTS has none of these issues and can be enjoyed and kept in this state for many years to come. Being ‘an older’ restoration, the quality of its restoration is easy to judge. Freshly restored cars need to ‘age’ before being able to judge how good the restoration has been executed.
Resprayed during restoration in ‘Windsor Blue’, a chique and period colour for a fast fifties roadster. The car’s weather equipment consists of a soft-top and a tonneau cover, both finished in black mohair. The interior is equipped with a period correct Becker radio and a walnut centrepiece dashboard. The bootlid has been reinforced to carry the weight of the rack and suitcase. Both the suitcase as the rack are included in the sale but also the rack can be removed upon request.

The number matching engine starts on the button and runs very sweet just as these engines supposed to. As it just had its annual service, the car is ready to be enjoyed immediately. Brandnew Michelin Pilot X Course tyres were fitted on the chrome wire wheels. Also a set of colour-coded wire wheels are available to give it a period racy look if wished for (see photo’s).
Driving experience of this XK is just phenomenal. The engine is strong and pulls endless. The overdrive comes in very easy and makes this car good to use on longer trips. The cooling system has been improved and an electrical fan has been added. The front brake calipers have been upgraded as well and the electronic ignition (Luminition) improves the reliability. No squeeks or rattles and nothing to worry about, this genuine 150S Roadster is by far the best one on the market and you won’t be disappointed.

As a thirteen year old boy, I started working in a local restoration shop. Sweeping the floor, organizing the tools and just spending every second of spare time in this place while growing up. Soon I was allowed to start helping working on ongoing projects. The main project then was an Indigo blue Jaguar Roadster. Yes, this car. The first miles, on the passenger seat of course, were magical. The endless power, the sound and a machine where roughly two thousand hours of labour had just been put in, got me hooked for life.
In the next twenty years, I was lucky enough to keep in touch with the owner who now wants to separate from the car in order to let someone else enjoy it as much as he did. What better chance to keep a grip on the future of this car!

All and all, this is the perfect chance to not only own a beautiful piece of history but also to own a highly useable roadster which can be enjoyed throughout the year.

Sold to the US.
