Classic Jaguar Specialist
Heritage Cars – Specialists in Classic Jaguar XK & E-Type
At Heritage Cars, we have a deep appreciation for the timeless elegance, engineering and driving experience of classic Jaguars. Whether you own an early XK120, XK140 or XK150, a Jaguar E-Type, or a later Jaguar XK, we offer the expertise, craftsmanship and attention to detail needed to preserve these iconic cars for future generations.
Our philosophy is simple: every Jaguar deserves to be understood before it is restored. We believe originality tells a story, and wherever possible we prefer well-preserved, honest cars with a beautiful patina over unnecessarily over-restored examples. However, when a complete restoration is required, we restore every Jaguar to the highest standards, respecting the car’s originality while achieving concours-level quality where desired

Jaguar XK120, XK140 & XK150 Specialist
The XK series established Jaguar as one of the world’s leading sports car manufacturers. With their flowing lines, legendary XK straight-six engine and impressive performance for their time, the XK120, XK140 and XK150 remain among the most desirable British classics ever built.
Whether your XK is an unrestored survivor or a concours restoration project, we understand the importance of preserving its character while ensuring reliability for modern touring.
Common problems with the Jaguar XK
- Chassis and engine heat: Due to the heat under the bonnet, old seals, hoses and plastic components dry out quickly and start to leak.
- Fuel supply & modern petrol: These cars do not cope well with modern fuels, which can cause them to idle erratically or be difficult to start after a hot run, due to fuel vapour build-up in the carburettors.
- Wear on the timing system & camshafts: As with the E-type, the timing chain and its tensioners require regular maintenance. Loose or worn crankshaft bearings can cause damage if neglected.
- Electrical faults: Like the E-type, the XK120 suffers from outdated wiring looms and charging problems with the old alternator, particularly at idle.

Jaguar E-Type Specialist
Few cars have achieved the iconic status of the Jaguar E-Type. Enzo Ferrari famously described it as one of the most beautiful cars ever made, and today it remains one of the most sought-after classics in the world.
From early Series 1 cars to the refined Series 2 and powerful V12 Series 3 models, Heritage Cars offers specialist knowledge for every generation of the E-Type.
We regularly carry out:
- Complete restorations
- Mechanical overhauls
- Engine tuning
- Carburettor rebuilding
- Cooling system improvements
- Brake and suspension refurbishment
- Electrical fault diagnosis
- Historic rally and touring preparation
Our goal is not simply to restore an E-Type, but to create a car that is enjoyable to drive while remaining faithful to its original character.
Common problems with the Jaguar E-type
- Rust: According to a consensus on the Jaguar forum, rust in the wheel arches, floor panels and the underbody is the main problem. Furthermore, poorly executed cosmetic restorations carried out in the past can mask this.
- Cooling and overheating: The later V12 models in particular are notorious for overheating. This is exacerbated by deteriorated rubber coolant hoses (the V12 has twenty of them) or a failing water pump and a blocked radiator.
- Electronics: Unreliable electronics cause erratic lighting, faulty gauges and ignition problems. Many starting problems are caused by poor ground connections or a sluggish starter motor.
- Oil leaks & rear axle: Oil leaks at the rear crankshaft oil seal are a common occurrence. Furthermore, the complex independent rear suspension is very labour-intensive to maintain.

Restoration Philosophy
At Heritage Cars, every Jaguar receives an individual approach.
We particularly enjoy working with original, well-preserved XK models that have acquired an authentic patina over decades of careful ownership. These cars often possess a character that simply cannot be recreated through restoration.
When preservation is no longer possible, we are equally passionate about carrying out complete restorations. Every component is restored or rebuilt with the same care and precision that Jaguar originally intended, resulting in a car that combines authenticity with exceptional craftsmanship.
Whether your goal is to preserve, improve, restore or prepare your Jaguar for long-distance touring, concours events or historic rallies, Heritage Cars offers the knowledge, experience and personal service to help you enjoy your Jaguar for many years to come.
