Body Off Restoration

A body-off restoration is an extensive restoration in which the body of a classic car is completely separated from its chassis. This provides access to the entire chassis, the underside of the body and mechanical components that are normally difficult to inspect or reach. A body-off restoration is generally carried out when a car requires a thorough restoration and the condition of both its structure and mechanical components needs to be assessed in detail.

During a body-off restoration, the chassis and body can be inspected, repaired and restored separately. Components such as the engine, gearbox, brakes, suspension, steering, fuel system and electrical system can also be rebuilt or refurbished as required. Depending on the condition of the car and the owner’s wishes, the vehicle can then be rebuilt to its original factory specification, using original and period-correct components wherever possible.
