“Concours condition” refers to a classification of absolute excellence, in which a classic car has been restored or maintained down to the smallest details to the standard required for prestigious events such as a Concours d’Elégance (NL), Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d‘Este (IT) or Pebble Beach (USA). For a car in this condition, the emphasis is on a flawless aesthetic finish: the paintwork, the chrome, the fit of the body panels, and the details in the interior and under the hood are in impeccable, often better-than-new condition. A concours restoration goes considerably beyond simply making the vehicle technically reliable.

It is important to note that “concours condition” primarily revolves around the visual and mechanical perfection of the finish, which is not always synonymous with 100% historical authenticity or originality. In a professional appraisal or purchase evaluation, a careful distinction is therefore made between the level of cosmetic finish, original patina, and factory-specifications.
