Tour Auto

Tour Auto (officially derived from the historic Tour de France Automobile) is one of the oldest, most renowned, and most demanding historic car rallies in the world. The event was originally founded in 1899 by the Automobile Club de France and has enjoyed a modern revival since 1992 under the organization of Peter Auto.

Each year, the rally brings together some 230 to 300 rare classic sports cars, such as iconic models from Ferrari, Porsche, Jaguar, and Matra, which actually competed in the original race between 1951 and 1973. Over the course of five days, participants cover more than 2,200 kilometers through the French countryside, alternating between challenging routes on public roads and pure speed trials on closed circuits and hill climbs.

In keeping with tradition, the rally begins with a public exhibition in Paris (such as under the glass roof of the Grand Palais), after which the convoy heads to an atmospheric final destination, such as the French coast near Biarritz. Because the cars are subjected to extremely intense strain for days on end, expert preparation and razor-sharp tuning are crucial.
